Students must meet minimum eligibility requirements for admission to North Carolina Central University and the UNC System.

Admissions Requirements:

  • Completed application for admission
  • Documentation of an active, unencumbered RN license
  • Official transcripts of all college coursework from each institution attended, with a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • List of academic courses in progress (if applicable)
  • Supportive documents such as personal essays and recommendation letters are welcomed but not required

Transfer Admissions:

  • At least 24 transferable credit hours from the last or current institution attended
  • Must not be on academic probation, suspended, or expelled from a previous or current institution

Transfer Credit Notes:

  • NCCU will only recognize associate degrees and transfer credits conferred by an accredited institution
  • NCCU will not accept transfer courses with a grade lower than “C”
  • NCCU does not accept transfer credit from challenge examinations or pass/fail coursework
  • Maximum transferable: 90 semester hours from a four-year college, 64 from a two-year college, combined maximum of 90 credit hours
  • RN to BSN applicants automatically receive 61 advanced placement credits for completing an ADN
  • Applicants may transfer up to 30 general education credits, contingent on transcript review
  • North Carolina residents must confirm in-state status through the Residency Determination Service (RDS) to qualify for in-state tuition rates
